Welcome to Our School

Welcome to the website of Stoke by Nayland Church of England Primary School and Nursery, part of the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan Multi-Academy Trust.  We are a small yet thriving school in the heart of idyllic Constable Country.

At Stoke by Nayland, we combine a Christian ethos with ambitious academic expectations to provide an inclusive, nurturing and stimulating school environment for all of our children.  Our core values of Courage, Creativity, Compassion and Curiosity exemplify what Stoke by Nayland Primary School stands for.

We take a holistic approach to develop each child academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually and each child is valued for their unique attributes. Children feel a sense of belonging as they become part of the Stoke by Nayland school family and are supported to become 'the best that they can be'.

Whether you are already a member of our school community, a prospective parent or an interested visitor, we hope that you find our website informative.  Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need any further information, and if you have not done so already, we invite you to come and see for yourself why Stoke by Nayland Primary School is such a special place.

New Admissions

We follow the Suffolk County Council Admissions Policy for the normal admissions round (rising 5s to Reception) for school years 2017/18 and 2018/19 (see policies below). For the admissions year 2019/20, in line with DfE requirements to consult on and determine the Admissions Policy at least every seven years, we will undertake this process after 1st October 2017 together with our sponsor, the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan Multi Academy Trust.

Nursery Admissions

Parents may apply for a place for their child to join our Nursery from the term after their 3rd birthday. We can offer mornings only, mornings and Lunch Club or full days.  There are no additional fees for 15 hour or 30 hour Government funded places.  However if you would like your child to attend Lunch Club or come to our Nursery for any additional hours, then these are charged at £4.10 per hour.

Morning sessions run from 9.00 am - 12.00 pm

Mid-Year Admissions

Children may join the appropriate year group at any time of the year subject to space being available.  As an Academy Trust, Stoke by Nayland C of E Primary School is an Own Admission Authority, with authority delegated from the MAT to manage all 'mid-year' applications, that is all applications for admission outside of the 'normal admissions round', outlined above. Applications for 'mid-year admissions' are made directly to Stoke by Nayland C of E Primary School. Please complete the Form ADM1, which can be accessed and downloaded by clicking the link below and return it directly to the School Office. The telephone number and email address are noted below should you require further information.

Supplementary Information Form (SIF) - this may be completed to support an application when oversubscription criteria (3a or 4) apply.

It is always best to ring the school for the most up to date information about spaces in different year groups.  Owing to the way we organise our classes we are often able to take over our PAN (Pupil Admission Number) without making our classes too large.  If you need further information or help with admissions, please do contact us on 01206 262418 or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
